Annual Town Meeting

It’s that time of year again! Strong follows a bifurcated, or two-part town meeting consisting of a secret ballot election for officers on March 20th, followed by an in-person Annual Town Meeting on Saturday, March 21st to finish voting on the warrant articles.

Absentee ballots are available at the town office starting Wednesday, February 18th. NOTE: absentee ballots are for the election of officers only and do not apply to the remaining warrant articles. You can see the sample ballot here.

All Strong residents are welcome to attend Town Meeting, but State law dictates you must be a registered voter in Strong to participate in voting. If you are unsure of your voter status or wish to register, visit the town office during regular business hours. There will be an opportunity to register on-site at Town Meeting as well.

Similarly, those residing in unorganized territories are invited to attend the Strong Town Meeting, but will be seated separately for voting purposes and will not participate in discussion on town matters unless approved by two-thirds of the voters present. To understand this and other questions, read A Citizen’s Guide to Town Meeting by the Maine Municipal Association.
