Porter Lake

Shared between Strong and New Vineyard, Porter Lake sits at 527 acres with a maximum depth of 86 feet. With a landlocked salmon, trout and chain pickerel, the lake is a great fishing spot, and equally good for swimming in the heat of summer.

Out on the Trails

Strong boasts an ATV club and a snowmobile club as well as 60 miles worth of trails to accommodate riders in both seasons.

Lance Corporal Scott B Paul Veteran’s Memorial Park

A great place to bring the kids, the Scott B. Paul Veteran’s Memorial Park is a park in Strong that’s a great place to host a picnic. In a lower portion of the park is the Richard Parker Memorial wing, located on Burbank Hill. The Parker Memorial wing has a 160-step “Stairway to Freedom” that connects the two portions of the park.

Pierpole Days

Every June, the town gets together to celebrate the town’s heritage. The parade on Friday night always has the streets lined with people. After the parade bagpipers play, and the 15th Alabama Civil War re-enactors do a musket salute at the Veterans’ Memorial.
